Kim Junsu Takes Legal Action Against Online Trolls

Singer Kim Junsu has decided to take a stand against online harassment. His agency, Palm Tree Island, announced on June 1 that they will adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards the spread of false information, malicious slander, and defamatory posts. They have filed multiple complaints with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, identifying several individuals involved and entering a formal investigation phase.

The agency stated, "We take the mental distress caused to our artist by prolonged online harassment very seriously. Even after identifying the suspects, we will pursue strict legal action without any settlements during the investigation process." They are currently monitoring malicious posts on specific online communities such as DC Inside, Theqoo, Instiz, Daum Cafe, and Nate Pann, while also preparing legal responses.

Palm Tree Island emphasized, "If individuals continue to exploit anonymity for malicious activities, we will take strong measures without any leniency. We appreciate the active cooperation of our fans and encourage them to report any malicious posts to our designated email address."

Last year, Kim Junsu was a victim of extortion, losing approximately 840 million KRW to a female BJ. The woman, identified as A in her 30s, was arrested and charged with violating laws related to aggravated economic crimes. She allegedly threatened Kim from September 2020 to October 2021. After receiving a seven-year prison sentence in both the first and appellate trials, she has now filed an appeal to the Supreme Court.

In a previous statement on the fan communication platform From, Kim Junsu expressed, "I couldn't endure the harassment any longer after five years. I stand firm; I have done nothing wrong, and this is an issue from five years ago. I also learned that there are more than six other victims, which I could no longer ignore."
