Kim Jun-hyun to Star as Van Helsing in Musical 'Bloody Love'

Actor Kim Jun-hyun is set to take on the role of Van Helsing in the upcoming musical 'Bloody Love'. On November 21, his agency, E Entertainment, announced that Kim will be performing as the iconic character, bringing his talent to the stage for audiences to enjoy.

'Bloody Love' is a reimagining of the Czech musical 'Dracula', which has a rich history spanning 30 years. Based on Bram Stoker's classic novel, the musical premiered in the Czech Republic in 1995 and made its Korean debut in 1998, garnering a devoted following worldwide over the decades.

In this production, Kim Jun-hyun portrays a descendant of the Van Helsing family, who is dedicated to exterminating the Dracula lineage. Known for his powerful vocal abilities and captivating stage presence, fans are eager to see how Kim will transform into the character of Van Helsing in 'Bloody Love'.

As the performance approaches, Kim shared his thoughts, stating, "While 'Bloody Love' shares a significant context with the Czech version of 'Dracula', it has been revamped enough to feel like a new premiere. I am preparing with the mindset of presenting a fresh take on the show. I believe the audience will be deeply moved by the music-filled stage and rich drama."

He also elaborated on his dual role as Van Helsing, noting, "In the first and second acts, I will portray different aspects of the character. I am paying close attention to how to express these two sides distinctly. I will do my best to ensure that the audience perceives a well-reasoned antagonist."

Kim Jun-hyun made his musical debut in 2006 with 'The Lion King' and has since captivated audiences in major productions such as 'Cats', 'Aida', 'Jack the Ripper', 'Jekyll and Hyde', 'Les Misérables', and 'The Last Empress'.

Notably, Kim is a former member of the renowned Japanese theater company Shiki (劇団四季), which has helped him establish a strong presence both domestically and internationally. With a solid filmography, Kim Jun-hyun has solidified his status as a skilled actor, and fans are keen to see how he will enchant audiences in 'Bloody Love'.

The musical 'Bloody Love', featuring Kim Jun-hyun as Van Helsing, will run from December 7, 2024, to February 16, 2025, at the Korea Electric Power Corporation Art Center.
