Kim Jong-min Reveals Financial Struggles Ahead of Wedding

On the February 12 episode of MBC's Radio Star (라디오스타), Kim Jong-min (김종민), who is set to marry in April, candidly discussed his financial situation. During the show, fellow cast member Kim Gura (김구라) praised Kim Jong-min's character, stating, "I've never heard him speak ill of anyone; he's just a genuinely nice person." Kim Gura also predicted that Kim Jong-min would receive a significant amount of wedding gifts, to which Kim Jong-min responded, "I hope so; I've given a lot in the past."

Kim Jong-min expressed his desire for guests to simply enjoy a meal at his wedding, even if it results in a deficit. When asked by Moon Se-yoon (문세윤) if he could bring all his relatives, Kim Jong-min humorously replied, "That’s not allowed." Park Na-rae (박나래) then inquired if a romantic interest could attend, to which Kim Jong-min jokingly stated, "Only couples are allowed."

The conversation took a surprising turn when Kim Jong-min admitted to having little savings, saying, "I haven’t saved much." He explained that he had invested in various businesses, including a gopchang (grilled intestines) restaurant and a PC bang (internet cafe), but his stock investments were currently not performing well. He mentioned, "I invested heavily in secondary batteries, but after Trump became president, the market dropped significantly. I’ve spent more than I’ve earned."

When Kim Gura asked if his fiancée was aware of his financial status, Kim Jong-min replied, "I’ve been completely open about it. She was surprised and asked if I was hiding anything. Everything has been laid bare, even my re-broadcast fees."

He also shared that he is currently looking to save money for a newlywed home, stating, "I’m still without a house."

In a nostalgic moment, Kim Jong-min recalled singing the theme song for the cartoon 'Our Dream' (우리의 꿈) during his childhood, noting that it brings tears to the eyes of adults who listened to it as kids, as it reminds them of their mothers cooking dinner. Code Kunst (코드쿤스트) chimed in, reminiscing about how they used to think Koyote (코요태) was the best group back in the day, prompting Kim Gura to humorously lament what could have been if he had composed music for them.
