Kim Ji-ho Discusses ADHD and Career Reflections

Actress Kim Ji-ho recently opened up about her struggles with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) during an appearance on the YouTube channel '지금 백지연' (Now with Baek Ji-yeon) on June 23. In a candid conversation with host Baek Ji-yeon, she shared, "Until last year, when I was bored, I would take my bike out and ride around, and when I got tired, I would read a book in the shade." She admitted, "I have a bit of ADHD," explaining that she often found it hard to focus for long periods. "I would get up from reading, run around, lay down on a mat, and play before coming back inside," she added, noting that she lived more in the emotional realm of an actress outside of her work.

Kim also discussed the reasons behind her reduced acting projects after marriage, stating, "Even after getting married and having a child, I continued to receive offers, but I often ran away due to the fear of failing again. I attempted a few dramas but ended up disappointing myself, lacking the energy and endurance to see them through to the end."

Reflecting on her peak years, she expressed regret, saying, "I always just wanted to finish filming quickly and go home. Looking back now, I wish I had made different choices during that time. If I were the person I am now, I wouldn’t have run away. I’ve only recently gained the courage and composure to think, 'So what if I’m not perfect?'"

Currently, Kim feels limited in her opportunities, stating, "Even though I want to do something, roles aren’t coming in. I haven’t been very active, and there are many talented actresses in my age group, making it difficult to find work."

Kim Ji-ho made her entertainment debut in 1994 through the music video for Shin Seung-hun's '그 후로 오랫동안' (For a Long Time After That). She has showcased her solid acting skills in various dramas such as '사랑의 인사' (Greetings of Love), '유리구두' (Glass Slippers), and '가화만사성' (Family Harmony), as well as films like '부러진 화살' (Broken Arrow) and '발신 제한' (Call Restriction). In 2001, she married actor Kim Ho-jin, who is five years her senior, and welcomed a daughter in 2004.
