Kim Jae-won Joins 'Yumi's Cells Season 3' as Male Lead

Actor Kim Jae-won, known for his roles in 'The Lady in Dignity' (옥씨부인전) and 'Trauma Center' (중증외상센터), is set to join the cast of 'Yumi's Cells Season 3' (유미의 세포들3). According to reports on May 19, 2025, he has been offered the role of Shin Soon-rok, the male lead in the popular series.
The Tving original series 'Yumi's Cells Season 3' (directed by Lee Sang-yeob, written by Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran) will follow Yumi (played by Kim Go-eun) as she returns as a star writer, navigating her growth and romantic adventures with her cells that only know her.
After a three-year hiatus, 'Yumi's Cells' has confirmed the production of its third season, with Kim Go-eun also returning to reprise her role.
In this upcoming season, Yumi is expected to face unpredictable romantic developments as she achieves her dream of becoming a writer. There has been significant interest in the actor who will portray Shin Soon-rok, Yumi's final love interest in the original webtoon.
Kim Jae-won debuted as a model in 2018 and transitioned to acting in 2021, featuring in various dramas such as 'Our Blues' (우리들의 블루스), 'The World You Are Missing' (네가 빠진 세계), 'King the Land' (킹더랜드), 'Hierarchy' (하이라키), and 'The Lady in Dignity'. Recently, he has captured viewers' attention with his roles in 'The Lady in Dignity' and 'Trauma Center', and he is currently filming for the Netflix series 'Lady Dua' (레이디 두아), showcasing his busy schedule.
'Yumi's Cells Season 3' is set to premiere on Tving in the first half of 2026.
