Kim Jaejoong Set to Become a Grandfather

On the January 24 episode of KBS2TV's 'Newly Released Menu' (신상출시 편스토랑), it was revealed that Kim Jaejoong (김재중) is about to become a grandfather, marking a first for K-pop idols. During the show, Kim Jaejoong welcomed his fourth and fifth sisters to his home, reminiscing about their childhood when they all lived together in a small room with their parents. He shared, 'My parents worked, so my sisters raised me like a son.' The atmosphere was warm as they embraced and laughed together.

Kim Jaejoong then announced he would prepare kimchi stew (김치찌개), recalling how he used to make it when there was little food at home. He explained, 'There were times when my mom worked at a restaurant and wouldn’t come home for two months. I had to find something to eat and discovered some kimchi.' He humorously noted that even when there was no meat, he had to include the kimchi stems, emphasizing that it was a recipe where everything goes in at once.

In a surprising twist, he pulled out margarine, stating, 'When there was no pork at home, adding margarine made it taste like meat.' He completed the dish with some seasoning.

Additionally, Kim Jaejoong prepared grilled pork belly (삼겹살) with a soy sauce dip for his sisters, claiming it pairs perfectly with cold noodles (냉면), which he also prepared to taste just like a restaurant dish.

The highlight of the episode came when his eldest sister jokingly remarked, 'You’re going to be a grandfather soon,' catching everyone off guard. This was in reference to his second sister's daughter who is about to give birth, making Kim Jaejoong the first idol to step into grandparenthood, much to the amusement of those present.
