Actress Kim Hyun-joo is reportedly in discussions to join the cast of the upcoming drama '100 Days of Lies', directed by Yoo In-sik, known for his work on the hit series 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo'.
According to sources on November 20, 2024, Kim Hyun-joo has received an offer to star in the new tvN drama, which is set in the historical backdrop of Gyeongseong. The plot revolves around the story of the city's top pickpocket who, through dealings with independence fighters, secures a covert job at the Governor-General's Office of Korea, ultimately becoming a spy. Yoo In-sik will direct the series, with the script penned by writer Ryu Bo-ri.
Yoo In-sik gained significant acclaim for his direction of the 2022 ENA drama 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo', which became a major success. He has also been behind various other popular dramas, including 'Giant', 'Salaryman Chohanji', 'Mrs. Cop', and 'Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim'. The collaboration with writer Ryu Bo-ri, known for works like 'Do You Like Brahms?' and 'Trolley', promises to deliver a unique period drama.
Kim Hyun-joo previously showcased her talent in the SBS drama 'Trolley', which concluded in February last year, where she played the lead role of Kim Hye-joo, delivering a compelling performance in a mystery romance. Having already worked with writer Ryu Bo-ri on 'Trolley', fans are eager to see if she will reunite with the writer in '100 Days of Lies'.
Additionally, last month, actress Kim Yoo-jung was reported to have received an offer for the lead role in '100 Days of Lies', where she is expected to portray the top pickpocket in Gyeongseong.
As Kim Hyun-joo considers her casting offer, anticipation builds around the possibility of her and Kim Yoo-jung sharing the screen for the first time, creating excitement among fans.
Kim Hyun-joo made her acting debut in 1997 with the MBC drama 'The Reason I Live'. Since then, she has appeared in numerous projects, including 'I Love You', 'The Last War', 'Into the Sunlight', 'That Woman's House', 'Sang-doo! Let's Go to School', 'Glass Slippers', 'Land', 'Partner', 'Shining', 'Family, Isn't It?', and 'Do You Have a Boyfriend?'.
Recently, she has collaborated with director Yeon Sang-ho in Netflix's 'The Silent Sea' and the 'Hell' series, as well as the film 'Jung-yi'. At the production presentation for 'The Silent Sea', Yeon Sang-ho expressed his admiration for Kim Hyun-joo, stating that she is more of a persona than a muse for him. As Kim Hyun-joo, often referred to as Yeon Sang-ho's persona, potentially teams up with Yoo In-sik, expectations for their synergy are high.
