Kim Hyesoo Reveals Thigh Injury During 'Trigger' Filming at Disney Showcase

At the Disney Showcase held on November 21, 2024, in Singapore, actress Kim Hyesoo shared her experience of sustaining a thigh injury while filming for 'Trigger'. The Walt Disney Company hosted the event at Marina Bay Sands, featuring a press conference for original content from the Asia-Pacific region. The production teams and main cast of Disney+ Korea originals, including 'Trigger', 'Fine', 'Hyperknife', 'Knock Off', and 'Nine Puzzle', participated in discussions about their respective projects.
During the 'Trigger' press conference, Kim Hyesoo, along with actor Jung Sung-il and director Yoo Seon-dong, discussed the drama, which follows a team of investigative journalists. The plot revolves around their struggle to solve the mysterious disappearance of a famous actor who vanished without a trace ten years prior. This marks Kim Hyesoo's first project with Disney+, and it also stars Jung Sung-il, who gained fame from 'The Glory', and actor Joo Jong-hyuk from 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo'. The series is directed by Yoo Seon-dong, known for his work on 'The Uncanny Counter', and written by Kim Gi-ryang.
When asked about memorable moments during filming, Jung Sung-il humorously recounted a scene where a live rat fell from above him. He was startled when the director communicated via radio that the rat was still attached, but he noted that the scene turned out exceptionally well, adding that viewers can expect to see a bit of 'Ratatouille' in the drama.
Kim Hyesoo revealed, "The tone and manner of our drama vary depending on the cases we cover. The main characters often resolve situations using their hearts, bodies, or minds. During the early episodes, we filmed in extremely cold weather, and I ended up rupturing my right thigh muscle while running." She expressed disappointment, saying, "I thought I could still film my face despite my leg injury, but that wasn't the case. Ultimately, the scene came out dynamically, and everyone was satisfied."
Director Yoo Seon-dong discussed the challenges of addressing darker themes like crime and investigative journalism with a light-hearted approach. He stated, "What I appreciated about the 'Trigger' script was its serious commentary on society while also portraying the characters' everyday lives filled with joy and sorrow. It balances the pursuit of justice with a vibrant, fast-paced narrative that can evoke both laughter and tears. I believe viewers will be captivated by the story."
The Disney Showcase, which took place over two days starting November 20, 2024, allowed attendees to preview upcoming works from the Walt Disney Company. Approximately 500 journalists, influencers, and Disney partners from 12 Asia-Pacific countries, including South Korea, Singapore, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia, were present at the event.
'Trigger', featuring the stellar performances of Kim Hyesoo and Jung Sung-il, is set to premiere on Disney+ in January 2025.
