Kim Hye-eun Apologizes Again Amid Yoo Si-min Controversy

Actress Kim Hye-eun has issued another apology regarding the recent controversy involving author Yoo Si-min. During a press screening for her upcoming film, 'City of Evil' (악의 도시), held on June 12 at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul, she expressed, "As someone who works as an actress, I want to sincerely apologize once again."
'City of Evil,' set to release on June 20, is a sociopathic thriller that delves into the depths of human nature through the intertwined lives of characters: Yoo-jung, who believes in goodwill; Kang-soo, who rejects faith; and Sun-hee, who manipulates others. The film is written, directed, and stars Hyun Woo-sung.
In the film, Kim Hye-eun portrays Grace, a character that exudes a commanding presence as the ultimate villain, Sun-hee. She shared her thoughts on the film, stating, "When I first read the script, I was quite troubled as it contained only one scene. However, while acting, I felt a real sense of nervousness. I was very anxious about how the audience would react until the screening began."
Kim also reflected on her long-standing connection with Hyun Woo-sung, which spans 14 to 15 years. She mentioned, "He showed me the script, saying he wrote it himself. He often advises people to be cautious, and I thought the script was consistent with his character. Coincidentally, my English name is Grace, just like my character's name. I felt it was fate, and since this is a historic project for a close colleague making his directorial debut, I wanted to support him."
Additionally, Kim addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Yoo Si-min, stating, "I have a deep concern for women and the vulnerable. The situation escalated beyond my expectations, and as an actress, I feel regret. Since the president was elected by the people, I believe our country should improve. The film industry is facing challenges, and as K-content gains global recognition, I hope we can enhance our status as a cultural powerhouse."
