Kim Gyu-ri Opens Up About Divorce on 'Now We Can Love' with Joo Byeong-jin

On the December 2 episode of tvN STORY's '이젠 사랑할 수 있을까' (Now We Can Love), Kim Gyu-ri, the match for Joo Byeong-jin, shared her personal story of divorce, revealing that she is a single mother raising two children. During a golf date, she disclosed that she had been divorced 17 years ago due to her ex-husband's repeated infidelities. Joo Byeong-jin appeared taken aback by her revelation but had previously stated that he would not look at the profiles of potential matches beforehand and was open to remarriage if love was involved.
While dining together, Joo Byeong-jin inquired about her living situation, to which Kim Gyu-ri responded that she has a 29-year-old daughter and a 25-year-old son, both of whom are not yet married. She expressed pride in raising them alone, noting that her daughter is a popular math instructor after being scouted by a large academy, while her son is currently preparing to start his own business after taking a break from his studies in Korean literature.
Reflecting on the challenges of single parenting, Kim Gyu-ri mentioned that her son, who is about 190 cm tall, was particularly difficult during his teenage years. She also shared that while she received child support from her ex-husband, she had to work to support her family, and now her children encourage her to pursue her own dreams.
In a candid moment, Kim Gyu-ri revealed that she had not been in contact with her ex-husband for 17 years, stating, "He is someone who has nothing to do with me anymore." Joo Byeong-jin, moved by her story, recalled his own mother who raised three children alone after their father passed away. However, he admitted that the situation felt burdensome for him, emphasizing that true love should extend to accepting a partner's children as well.
