Kim Gun-mo's Name Resurfaces in YouTube Video After Six-Year Hiatus

Singer Kim Gun-mo (김건모), who has been on a six-year hiatus from official activities, was mentioned recently in a YouTube video by broadcaster Jung Jun-ha (정준하). On July 22, Jung released a video titled 'Jung Jun-ha, the Fitness YouTuber, Takes on Cycling After 'Infinite Challenge' (무도런 이후 탄력받아 자전거 라이딩까지 도전하는 운동유튜버 정준하)' on his channel 'Jung Jun-ha Ha Ha' (정준하하하). The video showcased Jung's visit to a bicycle specialty store in Bundang, Seongnam, as he prepared to take up cycling seriously.

During the video, Jung expressed his affection for cycling, stating, "I’ve had this bike for over ten years." He explained that he traveled to Bundang specifically to find a discontinued model he had seen in a department store years ago.

While exploring the store, Jung was captivated by a particular bicycle. Praising its sleek design, he was informed by a store employee that it was a model famously associated with Kim Gun-mo. Surprised, Jung asked about the price, only to be shocked when the employee revealed it was 17 million won (approximately $14,000).

The employee further explained that this model is limited to only 100 or 191 units worldwide, adding to its rarity. Jung was visibly astonished, struggling to comprehend the price.

Kim Gun-mo is well-known as a cycling enthusiast, but it has been a long time since his name was mentioned publicly. He halted his entertainment activities in 2019 after being accused of sexual assault. An employee from a nightlife establishment claimed that Kim assaulted her in 2016, leading to his abrupt departure from the SBS variety show 'My Ugly Duckling' (미운 우리 새끼).

However, in November 2021, the prosecution decided not to indict him after two years of investigation. Although the accuser appealed, her case was dismissed in June 2022, and subsequent requests for retrial were also rejected, effectively closing the case. Despite being cleared of legal charges, Kim has not returned to broadcasting.

In 2020, Kim married pianist Jang Ji-yeon (장지연), but the couple announced their divorce after about two years and eight months, which further saddened fans.

With Kim Gun-mo's name unexpectedly resurfacing through the mention of an expensive bicycle, fans are once again curious about his current situation.
