Kim Do-young Reveals He Almost Quit Baseball on MBC's 'All-Seeing Assistant'

In a recent episode of MBC's entertainment show 'All-Seeing Assistant' (전지적 참견 시점), Kia Tigers player Kim Do-young shared a surprising revelation about his past struggles with baseball. During the broadcast on December 28, Kim visited his alma mater in Gwangju and candidly admitted to his junior teammates that he almost quit baseball during his first year of high school.
He explained, 'It was tough when I got injured. I had to take breaks from baseball, and with the high school season being so short, I felt immense pressure to perform. It was mentally exhausting, and I seriously considered giving up.'
When asked how he managed to overcome these challenges and return to the sport, Kim shared, 'I read a lot of motivational quotes and inspirational messages on my phone. One phrase that really resonated with me was, 'Will you do nothing and become nothing, or will you try and become something?' That pushed me to take action and pursue my dreams.'
He also offered advice to his juniors, saying, 'Your skills can improve suddenly. Just keep working hard. Even if you don't make it to the pros, if you stay consistent in college, opportunities will eventually come your way.'
