Kim Dae-ho Emerges as Candidate for Grand Prize at MBC Entertainment Awards

During the live broadcast of the '2025 MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards' on January 28, 2025, announcer Kim Dae-ho was nominated for the Grand Prize. The event was hosted by broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo, actor Lee Jang-woo, and actress Yoon Eun-hye, a member of Baby V.O.X.
The award for 'Entertainer of the Year' was presented by the 'Ul-eomma' duo, Seo Kyung-seok and Kim Hyo-jin, and it also served as a precursor to the Grand Prize nominations. Kim Dae-ho was the first recipient of this award, having previously won the Rookie Award at the '2023 MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards' and now being nominated for the Grand Prize.
Expressing his gratitude, Kim Dae-ho said, "First of all, I am truly thankful. I didn’t get to say this last time, but I appreciate my family for coming. I’m really grateful." He appeared overwhelmed, adding, "I didn’t think about what to say at all."
Despite his surprise, he acknowledged, "My appearances don’t always reflect the best side of me. I want to thank the production team for presenting me in a way that avoids misunderstandings, and the viewers for watching without any misconceptions. I wish everyone a Happy New Year. Thank you."
When asked by Jeon Hyun-moo about his significant leap from winning the Rookie Award two years ago to being nominated for the Grand Prize this year, Kim humorously remarked, "I hope my friend Kian84, who won the Grand Prize, is not misunderstood. I would like to have a gradual process, but it’s an honor and a big award, so I feel I have a lot to learn. It’s not that I don’t want to be like Kian84; he is fully qualified, but I feel I still have a long way to go. I sincerely thank you all. I will take this seriously and work harder."
He also mentioned, "My mother, father, aunt, younger aunt, and younger brother Sang-ho all came. Over 140 family members are watching through this screen," which prompted Jeon Hyun-moo to jokingly advise him not to make his marriage difficult. Kim Dae-ho responded, "Without my family, it would have been hard for me to be here. I am a son who has caused a lot of trouble, but I am grateful to my family for their support."
The 'MBC Entertainment Awards' has been celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, originally starting as a comedy award. The event was initially scheduled for December 29 but was canceled due to a tragic accident involving a Jeju Air passenger plane on the day of the event. After a national mourning period, the production team decided to reschedule the live broadcast for today, January 28, the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday.
