Kim Bo-yeon Sends Love Call to Lee Tae-gon on 'Chef Heo Young-man's Dining Journey'

On the December 15 episode of TV Chosun's 'Chef Heo Young-man's Dining Journey' (식객 허영만의 백반기행), actress Kim Bo-yeon expressed her affection for Lee Tae-gon during their trip to Hongcheon, Gangwon Province.

Kim Bo-yeon, who has been in the industry for 50 years and continues to redefine her prime, greeted Heo Young-man warmly, referring to him as 'Young-man.' When complimented as a 'timeless beauty,' she humbly acknowledged, 'I am getting older now.' This was her first visit to Hongcheon, and she showed great trust in Heo by saying, 'I just need to follow you, teacher.'

Their first stop was a tofu restaurant that sells only 15 servings a day. The duo ordered a two-person set featuring various dishes like stew and grilled tofu, starting their meal with a refreshing bowl of soft tofu. Heo Young-man mentioned a chilling scene from Kim Bo-yeon's drama 'Marriage Lyrics, Divorce Composition,' where her character faces her husband's death. Kim shared that she felt a lot of pressure due to the lack of dialogue in that scene, but she worked hard to convey the emotions.

As they enjoyed their meal, they sampled unique side dishes like fermented radish and seasoned vegetables, with the fried tofu in perilla oil particularly impressing them. Heo commented on the delightful aftertaste of the tofu, jokingly wishing to be someone with such a pleasant aftertaste, to which Kim playfully flirted back, 'Me?' Heo humorously remarked that he has only gained the ability to read the atmosphere since starting 'Dining Journey.'

When asked about her acting career, Kim recounted how she auditioned for a talent search at a broadcasting station before graduating from high school, recalling her nervousness. She mentioned her contemporaries like Jeong Yoon-hee, Yoo Ji-in, and Jang Mi-hee, noting that they all had different acting styles, making it hard to consider them rivals. She jokingly referred to Kim Hye-ja as a rival.

Later, they visited a famous restaurant known for its braised pollack, which boasts an annual revenue of 1 billion KRW. While waiting for their order, Kim reflected on her role in 'Marriage Lyrics, Divorce Composition,' where she plays a mother who secretly loves her son. She expressed her efforts to portray the character's love in a way that wouldn't seem distasteful.

When asked if they had shared a bath scene, Kim clarified that while they didn't bathe together, there was a moment when her son entered while she was in the bath, making it a unique experience. She acknowledged the mix of romance and thrill in the role and felt determined to do well.

Kim also reminisced about her past, stating that she used to appear on variety shows to promote her dramas. She shared a story about being encouraged by the late Kim Ja-ok to debut as a singer, performing her debut song 'Adolescence' live. Kim Bo-yeon, who achieved five consecutive weeks at number one on music shows, was dubbed the 'IU of the 70s.' She humorously reflected, 'I have no regrets, but sometimes I wonder if I should have done more.'

The final dish they tried was dakgalbi, a popular Korean stir-fried chicken dish. Unlike the Chuncheon style, which is stir-fried with various vegetables, they visited a restaurant that specializes in charcoal-grilled Hongcheon dakgalbi. Kim was so delighted by the dish that she couldn't help but dance in her seat. After finishing the dakgalbi and kimchi noodles, she mentioned to Lee Tae-gon, 'I haven't heard from you lately. Being on 'Dining Journey' is so nice and comfortable. I might have shared too much, but I really encourage you to join us next time.'
