KickFlip Shines as K-Pop Super Rookie at D Awards

JYP Entertainment's next-generation boy group, KickFlip (킥플립), has made a remarkable debut by winning two awards at their first music awards ceremony just 33 days after their debut. The group took home the 'D Awards Discovery - Rookie of the Year' and 'D Awards Remark' at the inaugural D Awards held on February 22 at Korea University's Hwajeong Gymnasium in Seoul. This achievement follows their debut mini-album, 'Flip it, Kick it!' (플립 잇, 킥 잇!), released on January 20, showcasing their strong presence as a 'K-Pop Super Rookie'.

The members expressed their excitement, stating, "We have dreamed of standing on an awards stage while preparing for our debut, and we are thrilled that it has come true. It is truly an honor to receive such a wonderful award. We will work even harder and present energetic performances in the future. We sincerely thank everyone who supports KickFlip."

KickFlip's opening performance featured a 'tape-cutting ceremony' theme to celebrate their first awards show appearance, igniting the festive atmosphere. Members Kyeo-hun, Amaru, Dong-hwa, Joo-wang, Min-je, K-Joo, and Dong-hyun broke the solemnity of the 'tape-cutting ceremony' with their lively energy on stage. They delivered a vibrant performance starting with a funky arrangement of their debut album track 'WARRIORS' (워리어스), followed by the pre-released song 'Uh Yeah' and their title track 'Mama Said (뭐가 되려고?)' (마마 세드), showcasing their talent as the 'next-generation stage masters'. Additionally, Min-je was recognized in the special segment 'D-tail Awards' as a potential 'K-Pop King', captivating the audience with photogenic poses.

With a successful start at their first awards show and significant achievements, KickFlip is set to continue their active promotions. Following their appearances on Mnet's 'M Countdown' on February 20, KBS 2TV's 'Music Bank' on February 21, and MBC's 'Show! Music Core' on February 22, they will perform their follow-up track 'Knock Knock' (낙 낙) on SBS's 'Inkigayo' on February 23. The catchy melody of 'Knock Knock', which expresses the fluttering heart in front of someone special, is captivating viewers with its groovy choreography.

KickFlip's mini-album 'Flip it, Kick it!' has recorded impressive sales, with 322,000 copies shipped according to Circle Chart, securing the top spot on both the weekly album chart and the weekly retail album chart for the period of January 19 to January 25, 2025. According to Hanteo Chart, they also achieved the number one position on the weekly album chart from January 20 to January 26, 2025, with first-week sales of 276,881 copies, earning them an official first-week certification.
