KEN, YOUNGJAE, HUI, and CHOI SANGYUP Collaborate on 'Old Song' for Global Remake Project

A remarkable collaboration has emerged among the main vocalists known for their unique tones. Music production company Donuts Culture has announced that the global remake project song 'Old Song' featuring KEN (켄), YOUNGJAE (영재), HUI (후이), and CHOI SANGYUP (최상엽) will be released today, June 29, at 6 PM across various music platforms.

The global remake project by Donuts Culture aims to release Korean music in different countries, expanding cultural connections through universal musical emotions while breathing new life into the songs and merging sentiments and cultures.

The first track selected for this global remake project is 'Old Song,' an emotional ballad by the acoustic indie music leader Standing Egg. With its warm melody and heartfelt lyrics, 'Old Song' has consistently garnered love from fans and artists across various genres. Last year, it received renewed attention when remakes by artists such as Huh Gak, Lim Hanbyul, Lee Mujin, Lee Jinseong (Monday Kiz), Kim Heejae, and #Goodbye were released through SBS's music variety show 'The Listen: Time Spent with You.'

This global project kicks off with the four main vocalists from their respective groups. KEN (켄) from VIXX (빅스) captivates listeners with his refreshing yet powerful voice, while YOUNGJAE (영재) from GOT7 (갓세븐) brings a soft and sensual charm. HUI (후이) from PENTAGON showcases his sweet voice and delicate emotions, and CHOI SANGYUP (최상엽) from LUCY adds a powerful and unique vocal presence. Together, their distinct voices create a harmonious blend that enhances the musical experience.

The reinterpretation of 'Old Song' maintains the original's lyrical melody while introducing a vibrant J-POP style arrangement. Notably, the song features a striking intro with intense guitar sounds and dramatic strings that evolve throughout the piece. Following its domestic release, the global remake will continue with collaborations involving artists from various countries.

Accompanying the music release is a cinematic music video shot against the picturesque backdrop of Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan. The video captures tender moments between a couple sharing earbuds on a bench, riding bicycles together, and reminiscing about their warmth while dozing off. It beautifully intertwines past and present, depicting poignant love moments that resonate with the song's lyrics.

Additionally, a collaboration version of 'Old Song' with the film '366 Days' will also be released simultaneously. Directed by renowned Japanese romance filmmaker Shindo Takehiko, the film stars popular actors Akaso Eiji and Kamishiraishi Moka. After its release in Japan, the film gained popularity through word of mouth, reaching the top of the box office. The touching love story of the two protagonists, who travel between Okinawa and Tokyo, harmonizes beautifully with the lyrics and melody of 'Old Song,' amplifying its emotional impact.
