KCM Reveals the Struggles Behind Keeping His Daughters a Secret from Close Friend Kim Tae-woo

In a recent episode of Channel A's 'Close Friends Documentary: Four-Person Table,' singer KCM opened up about the challenges he faced in keeping the existence of his two daughters a secret, even from his long-time friend Kim Tae-woo.

During the show, host Park Kyung-rim mentioned that while she was aware of Kim Tae-woo's marriage and the birth of his child, she only recently learned about KCM's daughters through news articles. KCM, who announced his marriage to his wife, nine years his junior, in 2022, revealed earlier this year that he had been hiding the fact that he had two daughters, the first born in 2012, for nearly 13 years.

When Park Kyung-rim asked if their mutual friends knew about KCM's daughters, Kim Tae-woo admitted he had no idea. He recounted receiving a shocking phone call from KCM, who said, 'Tae-woo, don’t be surprised, but I have a daughter I’ve been hiding.' Kim Tae-woo was taken aback, initially wondering if KCM had another wife or an illegitimate child, but quickly dismissed the thought, realizing KCM wasn't wealthy enough to have such a situation.

As they shared a meal, KCM explained why he had kept his daughters a secret. He admitted that he was going through a tough financial period and feared that marrying would burden his family with his debts. He wanted to marry his wife in a clean state, but things only got worse.

KCM also shared that after returning from military service, he faced a complete halt in his career for three to four years, during which he was scammed under his name. He expressed how difficult it was to borrow even a small amount of money during that time, especially from close friends, as he felt it would be harder to admit his struggles to them.

Kim Tae-woo expressed his sorrow upon learning how difficult KCM's situation had been, while KCM reflected on how things eventually turned around. He shared an emotional moment when he registered his marriage and welcomed his second daughter, crying with his wife. He admitted that he felt cowardly for not sharing the truth about his first daughter for so long.

Park Kyung-rim empathized with the friends' feelings of disappointment, especially since they had been in contact all these years. Kim Tae-woo added that it was surprising to learn that their first daughters were born on the same day.

KCM also shared his joy in being a father, mentioning that he takes his daughters to school and enjoys spending time with them. He humorously noted that his daughters sometimes cringe at his fashion choices, and he tries to explain his public persona to them.

When asked about his love story with his wife, KCM revealed they met through a mutual friend who introduced them. His wife, a model from Japan, was interested in working in Korea, and KCM was smitten from the start. He shared how his mother-in-law encouraged their relationship after seeing him on a show, which gave him the courage to pursue her.

As the conversation turned to their daughters entering adolescence, KCM acknowledged the challenges of parenting during this sensitive time. He also mentioned a signed album from IU that he had requested for his daughter, showcasing his dedication as a father.
