KBS's TV Show Genuine Treasures Marks 30 Years with New Hosts and Segments

KBS's long-running program, TV Show Genuine Treasures (TV쇼 진품명품), is set to undergo exciting changes as it marks its 30th anniversary. Joining the existing host, Kang Seung-hwa (강승화), is new co-host Hong Joo-yeon (홍주연), promising a richer and more dynamic format for the show.

For three decades, TV Show Genuine Treasures has been a leading appraisal program in South Korea. With the addition of Hong Joo-yeon, the show will officially adopt a dual-host format, enhancing the entertainment value for viewers. A key highlight of this revamp is the introduction of a new character, 'Genuine Lady' (진품 아씨), with Hong Joo-yeon taking on the role of a storyteller to delve deeper into the backstories of the items being appraised, adding a fresh perspective to the program.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the show is also planning various segment updates. One new segment, 'Fine Difference' (한끗차이), will explore how similar items from the same era can have vastly different appraisals, making the appraisal process more engaging for the audience. Additionally, a segment reflecting on the historical significance of the items will be introduced, focusing on the meaning of Korea's liberation in relation to the treasures being uncovered.

Producer Lee Eun-mi (이은미) stated, "TV Show Genuine Treasures has been beloved by viewers for a long time, and we aim to present an even more developed version as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. The synergy between Kang Seung-hwa and Hong Joo-yeon will bring new life to our antique appraisal show."

Hong Joo-yeon's first recording will take place on February 27, leading up to a special 30th-anniversary episode airing on March 2, which will also celebrate KBS's founding.

In related news, Hong Joo-yeon has recently been linked to marriage rumors with fellow broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo (전현무). During a recent episode of 'Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears' (사장님 귀는 당나귀 귀), a playful comment about Jeon Hyun-moo getting married next month sparked speculation. Jeon Hyun-moo humorously added to the rumors, saying, "We've been dating for a month," which fueled the marriage talk.

Jeon Hyun-moo later addressed the rumors, expressing his surprise at the March wedding speculation, stating, "My mom called to ask if I was getting married. There are so many inaccuracies out there." When asked about a potential May wedding, he jokingly responded, "Sure, but then there will be articles saying we corrected it to May!"

As the rumors escalated, Jeon Hyun-moo reflected on the situation, saying, "I felt sorry for her. I asked if it was uncomfortable for her. I don’t mind being in the spotlight, but if she’s okay with it, then it’s fine. It’s tough for new anchors to get attention these days, so if this helps her, that’s good."
