KBS2's 'The Seasons - Lee Young-ji's Rainbow' Canceled Due to National Mourning Period

In light of the recent passenger plane tragedy, KBS2 has announced the cancellation of 'The Seasons - Lee Young-ji's Rainbow.' The show has decided to forgo its scheduled recording on December 31, 2024, and will not air on January 3, 2025. This decision aligns with the national mourning period, which has been set to last until January 4, 2025, at midnight.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, a tragic incident occurred on December 29, 2024, when Jeju Air flight 7C2216, arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed into the runway's outer wall while attempting to land at Muan International Airport. Out of the 181 passengers on board, 179 lost their lives. In response, the government has declared a national mourning period until January 4, 2025.
'The Seasons - Lee Young-ji's Rainbow' has chosen to cancel its recording and broadcast to honor the victims and offer condolences to their families. The recording that was canceled is now rescheduled for January 14, 2025.
Additionally, the three major broadcasting networks have also decided to cancel or postpone year-end award ceremonies due to the mourning period. MBC canceled its Entertainment Awards on December 29 and the live broadcast of the Acting Awards scheduled for December 30. The Gayo Daejeon, set for December 31, will be replaced with a recorded broadcast. KBS has also opted to cancel its Acting Awards on December 31, planning to air a recorded version later, while SBS has canceled its Entertainment Awards ceremony altogether.
