KBS Announcer Couple Jo Chung-hyun and Kim Min-jung Open Up About Divorce Crisis

KBS announcer couple Jo Chung-hyun (조충현) and Kim Min-jung (김민정) have revealed they are facing a divorce crisis. Despite their cheerful public image, Kim Min-jung has shared some surprising truths about her husband’s temper at home. On March 8, tvN STORY released a preview of the upcoming episode of Kim Chang-ok Show 3 (김창옥쇼3), set to air on March 11, which features the couple discussing their marital struggles. Kim Min-jung highlighted Jo Chung-hyun's contrasting personality, mentioning their consideration of separation and divorce.
In the preview, comedian Hwang Je-sung (황제성) introduced the couple's story, stating, "Please fix your husband's temper. He gets angry just by being asked something or when a request is made. His temper flares up at any moment, and what starts as a small issue often escalates into a big fight. I knew this from our dating days, but I was deceived by his promises to change, and now we are entering our tenth year of marriage. This is a 'crisis,' right?"
Kim Min-jung described Jo Chung-hyun as having a warm and accommodating public persona, but at home, he is a completely different person, often displaying a fierce temper. She recounted a recent conflict that occurred on New Year's Eve, a day she hoped would be joyful and peaceful for their family. As she was busy preparing for their child's school, she noticed their child clinging to her, prompting her to question Jo Chung-hyun's absence. She found him lying in bed, seemingly preoccupied with his phone, which led to her frustration.
Kim Min-jung explained, "After holding back several times, I finally spoke up, but I couldn't express myself positively in that situation. I thought, 'I’m not the only one doing nothing here.'" The preview captured Jo Chung-hyun's shocked reaction to her revelations, adding to the intrigue.
Moreover, Kim Min-jung plans to share how Jo Chung-hyun's temper led her to consider separation. She admitted, "I have thought about separating and even divorce due to his temper." Jo Chung-hyun acknowledged his temper but hinted at underlying reasons for his behavior. The couple reportedly had an emotional conversation to address their issues and shed tears together.
Previously, Kim Min-jung had also mentioned their marital discord on her social media. On March 1, she shared a photo from her graduation ceremony at Yonsei University's Graduate School of Environmental Studies, stating, "This study was special to me because it was something I clung to during a significant crisis in our marriage. I started studying to understand my husband better, and I am grateful for his support."
She reflected on her journey, saying, "While managing my studies and raising two children, I have found fulfillment in overcoming our divorce crisis. It was also a struggle to not lose myself. I gained wisdom on navigating life's challenges, including family relationships and motherhood."
Jo Chung-hyun and Kim Min-jung, who were colleagues at KBS, married in 2019 after five years of secret dating and now have a son and a daughter together, with their second child born in July of last year.
