Jungkook's Live Stream Breaks Records with 20 Million Views
Jungkook (정국) of the global supergroup BTS (방탄소년단), currently serving in the military, achieved a remarkable milestone during a live stream held during his leave, garnering a staggering 20 million cumulative views in real-time. This figure marks the highest since the launch of the global fan platform Weverse in 2019. According to his agency, Big Hit Music, the live stream had received 292 million hearts by 1 PM on December 19.
Previously, Jungkook set a record of 16 million views during a personal live stream last year, and he has now surpassed his own achievement. The live broadcast commenced at 11:39 PM the previous day, where he greeted fans, expressing, "I checked and found out I could do a live stream, so I opened Weverse during my leave. I really missed you all, and it's been so long that I'm nervous."
During the stream, Jungkook shared updates about his life and gave a tour of his new home. He mentioned, "I thought I would want to do a live stream during this leave, so I prepared in advance. I've been running and doing weight training every day."
Responding to fan requests, he performed over 30 songs, starting with Taeyeon's 'To. X' and followed by Block B's 'Where Are You?'. He also sang Rosé's 'APT.', Ailee's 'Magnetic', and expressed his admiration for BIGBANG by performing G-Dragon's 'Niliria (G-Dragon Ver.)' and 'Who You?'.
Jungkook showcased the strong bond among BTS members by singing Jin's 'I'll Be There' and V's digital single 'Winter Ahead (with PARK HYO SHIN)'. The latter part of the live stream featured his own songs, including 'Standing Next to You' from his solo album 'GOLDEN' and the single '3D (feat. Jack Harlow)'. He concluded the session by humming Don Toliver's 'Don't Go'.
He expressed his joy, stating, "I had so much fun today. I hope everyone is doing well, and I will practice more and come back. I'm sad to leave, but I will return."
Following the broadcast, hashtags related to Jungkook and the songs he performed trended at the top of X (formerly Twitter). Earlier, on December 13, Jungkook won two awards at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards for 'Top K-Pop Album' and 'Top Global K-Pop Song'. He also ranked 60th on Billboard's Year-End Charts for 'Top Artist', achieving the highest position among Korean artists.
