Jungkook Wins Two Awards at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards

Jungkook (정국) of BTS (방탄소년단) achieved a remarkable feat at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), held on December 13, 2024 (KST), by winning two prestigious awards. His solo album, GOLDEN, and its title track, Standing Next to You, earned him the titles of Top K-Pop Album and Top Global K-Pop Song.

This marks Jungkook's second consecutive win in the Top Global K-Pop Song category, having previously won the award last year for his solo single Seven (feat. Latto).

Released in November 2023, GOLDEN debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and maintained its position for 24 consecutive weeks, setting a record for the longest-charting album by a Korean solo artist. The title track, Standing Next to You, entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number five, making it Jungkook's sixth entry on the chart as a solo artist. He has successfully placed three songs in the Hot 100's top 10, including Seven (feat. Latto) and 3D (feat. Jack Harlow), solidifying his status as a global pop star. Jungkook is the only Korean solo artist to achieve this milestone on the Hot 100.

BTS first made their mark at the BBMAs in 2017 when they won the Top Social Artist award. They continued to dominate this category until 2021 and have also won the Top Duo/Group award in 2019, 2021, and 2022, accumulating a total of 12 trophies, including Top Song Sales Artist and Top Selling Song for 2021 and 2022. Jungkook's solo endeavors have added three more awards to his accolades at the BBMAs over the past two years.
