This new album encapsulates moments that one wishes to hold onto amidst the fleeting days, showcasing Jung Yong-hwa's musical growth as he celebrates his 10th anniversary as a solo artist this year. The main concept of the album revolves around 'SPACE', symbolizing the endless possibilities and expansiveness of his music, while also depicting a special space where his inner self and feelings for his fans reside.
The title track 'Night Runner (Shooting Star)' features a lyrical piano melody and guitar sounds that create a dreamy yet poignant atmosphere. The song metaphorically refers to shooting stars as 'Night Runners', conveying the message that even if one disappears into the night, dreams and wishes will remain in the sky forever.
In a recent Q&A, Jung Yong-hwa shared his thoughts on the album:
Q1. What are your feelings about the release of 'One Last Day'?
A: Since this album commemorates my 10th anniversary as a solo artist, I wanted to create it with more care and depth. It’s an album I hold dear, and I hope it resonates with many.
Q2. Can you introduce the title track 'Night Runner (Shooting Star)'?
A: The subtitle of this title track is 'Shooting Star'. It expresses the wishes of many people through the metaphor of a shooting star, conveying the message that even if I vanish into the night, dreams and wishes will eternally linger in the sky.
Q3. What should listeners pay attention to in 'Night Runner (Shooting Star)'?
A: I think it would be great to listen while reading the lyrics. The song ends with a FADE OUT, which I crafted to evoke the image of a meteor gradually burning out, so I hope listeners focus on that part.
Q4. Do you have any memorable episodes from the music video shoot?
A: We filmed in New York, and I worked with a long-time friend. We shared a lot of ideas and had fun shooting, which I believe captured my essence well.
Q5. You participated in writing and composing most of the songs on this album. What was your focus during the process?
A: As always, I was deeply involved in the creation. My main focus was to introspect and create songs that reflect my true self. I believe those who have listened to my music will discover a new side of me.
Q6. You led the overall production of the album, including concept, visuals, and music videos. What did you pay the most attention to?
A: I wanted everything to align, from the song's mood to the concept photos, music video content, and concerts. I worked hard to incorporate the emotions I felt while creating the songs into the album.
Q7. What does 'One Last Day' mean to you?
A: This album is like the last night of a meteor burning out, pouring out my colors and passion. It also connects meaningfully to my first solo album 'One Fine Day', making it even more special.
Q8. You have a solo concert coming up after the album release. What should fans look forward to?
A: While CNBLUE concerts are all about 'Everybody jump!!', my solo concert will focus more on the album's concept and message. I’m preparing hard to make it a performance that truly represents me.
Q9. As you celebrate your 10th anniversary as a solo artist, how do you want to be remembered?
A: I want to be remembered as an artist who has consistently evolved. Even when the day comes that I fade away, I hope the happiness, laughter, and dreams I’ve shared through my songs will remain in the sky forever.
Q10. Any final words for your fans?
A: It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since I started my solo activities. Time has flown by so quickly. Thank you for always being by my side, and I will continue to work hard to bring you wonderful music. I hope my music stays with you for a long time. Thank you and I love you all.
