Jung Woo-sung Acknowledges Paternity, Faces Backlash Over Extramarital Child

Actor Jung Woo-sung has confirmed that he is the father of a son born to model Moon Ga-bi, leading to ongoing discussions and criticisms surrounding his acknowledgment of an extramarital child.

A media outlet reported that Jung Woo-sung and Moon Ga-bi first met at a gathering in 2022 and developed a close relationship, which resulted in Moon Ga-bi's pregnancy in June of the following year. While their relationship was not intended to lead to marriage, Jung Woo-sung expressed his commitment to support the child in every way possible as a father.

However, another report suggested that there have been conflicts between Jung Woo-sung and Moon Ga-bi regarding issues of child-rearing and marriage. Moon Ga-bi reportedly wishes to provide a stable family environment for their child through marriage, while Jung Woo-sung has indicated that he will cover child support and related expenses but does not intend to marry.

In response to the situation, Artist Company confirmed that the child is indeed Jung Woo-sung's and stated that they are discussing the best approach to parenting. They emphasized that Jung Woo-sung will do his utmost as a father but refrained from commenting further on the marital conflict.

The news of Jung Woo-sung's acknowledgment of his extramarital child has shocked many netizens, prompting some to criticize him publicly.

Cartoonist and YouTuber Yoon Seo-in took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on November 25, stating, "Although I may be poorer and less attractive than Jung Woo-sung, my family is much better set up than his. The more I think about it, the more I believe that a proper family leads to a fulfilling life." He further criticized Jung Woo-sung, saying, "What kind of love can a person who coldly neglects his own child speak of?"

On the same day, Jeong Yu-ra, the daughter of Choi Soon-sil (now known as Choi Seo-won), who is currently serving an 18-year prison sentence for her involvement in the 'National Assembly corruption' scandal, also commented on the situation via Facebook. She shared an article confirming Jung Woo-sung as the father of Moon Ga-bi's son and questioned, "What does it mean to take responsibility but not marry?"

She added, "These days, even young people in their early twenties understand that if they take responsibility, they should marry. Playing with words about responsibility while avoiding it is unacceptable. If you pity refugees, shouldn't you also feel sorry for a child who will live with the label of being an extramarital child?"

Meanwhile, Jung Woo-sung is set to attend the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards on November 29, where he is nominated for Best Actor for his role in the film 'Seoul's Spring.'
