Jung So-min Wins First Best Actress Award After 14 Years in the Industry

Actress Jung So-min has achieved a significant milestone by winning her first Best Actress award after 14 years in the entertainment industry. She received the honor at the 44th Golden Cinematography Awards held on November 18, 2024. Established in 1977, the Golden Cinematography Awards aim to maintain the technical sensibility of Korean cinema and discover new talent in the film industry.
Jung So-min was recognized for her performance in the film '30일' (30 Days), which was released last year. The movie portrays the comedic relationship between Jeong-yeol (played by Kang Ha-neul) and Na-ra (played by Jung So-min), who, unable to endure each other's quirks, end up suffering from mutual amnesia just before they completely part ways. In '30일', Jung So-min plays the character Hong Na-ra, a free-spirited individual who delivers a charmingly reckless comedic performance, captivating an audience of 2.16 million.
Expressing her gratitude, Jung So-min stated, "It is truly an honor to receive such a significant award as my first Best Actress accolade after my debut. I find immense joy in my work, and I believe this award reflects the desire to continue enjoying and loving what I do for a long time. I aspire to be a person and an actress who, even if progress is slow, will not stop and will keep growing."
Since her debut in the 2010 drama 'Bad Guy' (나쁜 남자), Jung So-min has captivated viewers with her delicate and diverse performances in various dramas, including 'Mom's Friend's Son' (엄마친구아들), 'Alchemy of Souls' (환혼), 'Soul Repairer' (영혼수선공), 'Because This Is My First Life' (이번 생은 처음이라), 'My Father Is Strange' (아버지가 이상해), and 'Playful Kiss' (장난스런 KISS). She has also garnered public affection for her remarkable character portrayals in films such as 'Wolf Hunt' (늑대사냥), 'Dad Is Daughter' (아빠는 딸), and 'Twenty' (스물).
Recently, in the drama 'Mom's Friend's Son', Jung So-min showcased her unique charm and nuanced emotional expressions, solidifying her status as a 'romantic comedy goddess.'
