Jung Si-hyun Takes on His First Musical Role in 'Ghost Bakery'

Actor 정시현 is set to make his musical debut in the upcoming original Korean production, '고스트 베이커리' (Ghost Bakery), which will open in December. He will portray the character '영수' (Young-soo), who is hired to save a struggling bakery run by the character '순희' (Soon-hee), played by 박진주 (Park Jin-joo), 박진연 (Park Jin-yeon), and 이봄소리 (Lee Bom-so-ri). The story follows Soon-hee, who, after being fired from her previous job at a bakery, impulsively takes over a rundown shop. The former owner, a ghost, tries to reclaim the bakery, leading to a series of comedic and romantic events.

In his role as Young-soo, 정시현 will showcase his charm as a warm-hearted younger man who steps in to help the bakery amidst Soon-hee's struggles. The chemistry between 정시현 and his co-stars, including the ghost character played by 송원근 (Song Won-geun), 전성우 (Jeon Sung-woo), and 이재환 (Lee Jae-hwan), is anticipated to be a highlight of the production.

정시현 has a rich background in theater, having performed in plays such as '7시에 만나' (Meet at 7) and '오백에 삼십' (Five Hundred and Thirty). He gained recognition for his singing abilities as a contestant on Mnet's '프로듀스 101 시즌2' (Produce 101 Season 2). His diverse talents have generated excitement for his first venture into musical theater.

'고스트 베이커리' is the latest work from the acclaimed duo 윌휴 (WillHugh), known for their previous success with '어쩌면 해피엔딩' (Perhaps a Happy Ending), which made history as the first Korean musical to debut on Broadway and has received numerous accolades, including awards from the Korean Musical Awards and the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Audiences can catch 정시현's debut performance in '고스트 베이커리' starting December 19 at the Doosan Art Center's Yeongang Hall in Seoul.
