Jung Mi-ae Makes Emotional Return to Stage After Tongue Surgery
On January 8, 2025, singer Jung Mi-ae made her first appearance on the music program 'Gayo Stage' (가요무대) following her tongue surgery due to oral cancer. During the episode of KBS2TV's 'The Return of Superman' (슈퍼맨이 돌아왔다), she was seen heading to the studio with her four children, receiving heartfelt support from her family.
In the waiting room, Jung Mi-ae expressed her excitement about meeting her senior, singer No Sa-yeon, whom she had previously encountered as a judge on 'Miss Trot' (미스트롯). She remarked, "It’s an honor and a surreal experience just to greet my senior."
No Sa-yeon inquired about Jung Mi-ae's health, showing concern for her recent battle with cancer. Jung Mi-ae reassured her, stating, "I am healthy now, but I am still undergoing follow-up tests."
Jung Mi-ae's family, including her husband, parents, and children, came in to greet No Sa-yeon, and she presented her mother’s homegrown produce as gifts.
When No Sa-yeon asked Jung Mi-ae's third child about future aspirations, the child expressed a desire to perform on stage, dreaming of becoming an idol. This prompted No Sa-yeon to humorously suggest that if the child becomes famous like IU (아이유), they should recognize their sister.
Before taking the stage, Jung Mi-ae appeared nervous during rehearsal, admitting, "I’m really anxious because many seniors will be watching 'Gayo Stage.'" Her family watched with concern, and Jung Mi-ae acknowledged, "My parents have been waiting a long time for this moment."
