Jung Joong-sik Opens Up About His Song 'I Am Firefly' on SBS's 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2'

On May 12, SBS's 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' featured Jung Joong-sik and his fiancée Jang Jae-na, where Jung shared his thoughts on his hit song 'I Am Firefly'. The track has gained significant attention for its resurgence in popularity, but Jung expressed mixed feelings about the fact that the version sung by singer Hwang Ga-ram has outperformed his own. He admitted, "At first, I was upset. There are moments when my emotions clash. It's my song, but it seems like Ga-ram has the influence that fits the song better."
Jung revealed that his version did not chart well, leading him to contemplate quitting music. However, he found solace in the fact that his song was becoming more recognized, which motivated him to create music that felt more authentic to himself.
During the episode, Jung and Jang visited a friend's house, where Jung humorously recounted how his friend Jang Jae-hwa had hidden her younger sibling for 20 years before finally introducing them. This revelation prompted laughter from the group, especially when Im Mi-do commented, "Your sister made a mistake."
Jang Jae-na mentioned that her sister had recently won a housing lottery and was preparing to move, which piqued interest as they went to collect items they could use. The couple gathered various household items like an air purifier and humidifier, but Jung was seen sitting idly on the sofa, prompting Jang Jae-hwa to question if he was always this inactive at home. Jang Jae-na explained that he was feeling drowsy from medication.
In a playful exchange, Jang Jae-hwa, taking on a sister-in-law role, reminded them to clean up since they had a dog. Jung mentioned he hired a cleaning service, to which Jang Jae-hwa quipped that he needed to earn enough money to afford it. Jung responded with a pout, saying, "Ga-ram will earn more for me. The next songs will bring in more money."
Jang Jae-hwa teased him further, suggesting that not cleaning wouldn’t necessarily lead to him working harder, to which Jung smiled at the banter. He humorously declared, "I’m good at love. I’m a love expert," eliciting laughter from everyone present.
