Jung Il-hoon Makes Comeback After 5 Years with New Single 'Lullaby'

Jung Il-hoon, who left BTOB (비투비) due to allegations of marijuana use, has made his return to the music scene after five years with the release of his new single, 'Lullaby.' On November 21, he took to his personal social media to express his excitement, stating, "Hello, it's been a while. I'm greeting you through my single 'Lullaby.' I sincerely thank the fans who have supported me during this long wait."

He continued, "I also want to thank everyone who has helped me. It feels like a dream moment for both the fans and me, making this day particularly emotional! I look forward to your continued support. Thank you so much, and I love you all."

This new single marks his first release since his solo track 'Spoiler (Feat. Babylon)' in 2019, and it signifies his official return to the music industry following his legal troubles.

In December 2020, Jung Il-hoon was discovered to have purchased and used approximately 1.3 billion KRW worth of marijuana over 161 occasions from July 2016 to January 2019. Following this revelation, he departed from BTOB and was sentenced to two years in prison along with a fine of over 133 million KRW in the first trial.

However, during the appeal, his sentence was reduced to two years of probation, 40 hours of drug treatment programs, and a fine of 126.63 million KRW. The court noted that while Jung had a long history of use and purchase, he appeared to have voluntarily ceased his activities around January 2019, had no prior convictions, and had made efforts to prevent recidivism through drug treatment and maintaining social ties, indicating support from his family.

After his release, Jung reflected on his time during the investigation, trial, and incarceration, stating, "I have deeply reflected on my life during these past few years. I recognize the harm I have caused to society and the disappointment I have brought to those who believed in me. I will strive to live correctly moving forward and ensure that I do not hurt anyone again. I will be vigilant in making the right choices and taking care of myself and those around me to avoid repeating the same mistakes."
