Jung Dong-won Reveals Financial Struggles from JD1 Activities

On March 22, singer Jung Dong-won appeared on SBS PowerFM's 'Cultwo Show' to discuss his recent activities and the challenges he faced with his alter ego, JD1. Returning with his second full album titled 'A Gift from the Tall Man' and its lead tracks 'Heung' and 'Flower Lantern', Jung shared insights during the 'Love's Call Center' segment alongside creator RalRal and singer Kim Tae-hyun.
Jung explained that the album title 'A Gift from the Tall Man' is a continuation of his first album's theme. He expressed gratitude to his fans, stating, "Since I was very young, they have always supported me quietly, which inspired the title of my first album, 'Nostalgia, The Giving Tree.' Now, I want to be in the position of the tall man, quietly supporting and giving back to my fans."
He described the title track 'Heung' as a blend of trot dance, hip-hop, and traditional Korean music. He also shared that rapper Haon was his first choice for the hip-hop feature, having been a fan since 'High School Rapper', and he reached out to him directly. The other title track, 'Flower Lantern', tells a poignant story of first love set to a medium tempo.
During a recent album showcase, Jung candidly revealed that all the money he earned as Jung Dong-won has been spent on his JD1 activities, joking, "If JD2 comes out, I will go bankrupt. For JD1 to make a comeback, I need to work hard as Jung Dong-won."
Additionally, he attended RalRal's first fan meeting, which left a lasting impression on both of them. RalRal remarked, "I will never forget it. Back then, there weren't many issues, and I was surprised that only true fans showed up." Jung responded, "I've been a fan since then and will always support you. If you need me for any content, just call me anytime." In a fun moment, Jung successfully connected with a listener by choosing V1's 'I Guess So' during the show.
Fans can tune into 'Cultwo Show' every day from 2 PM to 4 PM on SBS PowerFM 107.7MHz or enjoy the live radio experience on the official YouTube channel 'Erao'.
