July Festival Celebrates Iconic Russian Composers in Seoul

What if you could immerse yourself in the works of a single composer for an entire month? The House Concert series at the Artist House in Daehakro, Seoul, has been bringing this whimsical idea to life since 2020 with its annual composer-focused event known as the 'July Festival.' This year, the festival will spotlight renowned 20th-century Russian composers Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev, and Dmitri Shostakovich. From July 1 to July 31, the Artist House will host performances of their compositions. The festival kicks off on July 1 with Stravinsky's 'A Soldier's Tale' and concludes on July 31 with his 'The Rite of Spring.' A total of 237 musicians, including pianists Park Jae-hong and Park Jong-hae, violinists Kim Hyun-mi and Baek Joo-young, and cellists Lee Jeong-ran and Shim Jun-ho, will participate in this month-long celebration of music.
