Joo Ji-hoon Considers Role in 'The Remarried Empress' Alongside Shin Min-a and Lee Jong-suk

Actor Joo Ji-hoon is currently reviewing an offer to star in the highly anticipated drama 'The Remarried Empress' (재혼황후), which features Shin Min-a and Lee Jong-suk. On January 24, a representative from his agency, Blitzway Studio, confirmed to OSEN that Joo Ji-hoon is considering the role.

Based on a popular web novel and webtoon of the same name, 'The Remarried Empress' tells the story of Nabiyah, a perfect empress of the fictional Dongdae Empire, who, after being divorced by her husband, Emperor Sobiesu, due to his infidelity, quickly remarries Prince Heinri of the Western Kingdom, reclaiming her title as empress.

Despite the original's immense popularity, the adaptation into a modern Korean drama set in a fictional Western-style empire has sparked curiosity and excitement among fans. Shin Min-a has already been confirmed for the lead role of Nabiyah, while Lee Jong-suk will portray Prince Heinri, further heightening expectations.

Joo Ji-hoon has been offered the role of Sobiesu, Nabiyah's first husband and the emperor of the Dongdae Empire. Sobiesu is depicted as a character who realizes his true love for Nabiyah after their divorce, embodying the traits of a typical obsessive and regretful man in the original story. His character is notorious among fans for being a source of frustration due to his infidelity and subsequent remorse, raising questions about how Joo Ji-hoon will interpret this complex role.

Since his debut in the drama 'Goong' (궁), Joo Ji-hoon has frequently taken on roles in adaptations of comics and novels. His filmography includes the 'Along with the Gods' series, Disney+'s 'Lighting Store', and Netflix's 'Trauma Center', all of which are based on original works. In a recent interview for 'Trauma Center', he mentioned, "I have probably done the most projects based on comics and original stories."

If he confirms his participation, this will mark the third collaboration between Joo Ji-hoon and Shin Min-a, following their work together in the 2007 drama 'Ma Wang' and the 2009 film 'Kitchen'. Fans are eager to see the reunion of the two actors after 16 years.
