Jin Tae-hyun Shares His Thoughts After Thyroid Cancer Diagnosis

On May 8, actor Jin Tae-hyun opened up about his recent thyroid cancer diagnosis in a video titled "Don't Worry, We'll Overcome This" on the 'Park Si-eun Jin Tae-hyun Small TV' channel. He began by sharing that he and his wife, Park Si-eun, underwent health check-ups around April 21, where they both received good news about their health. However, Jin revealed that he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer after a fine needle aspiration test, stating, "Unfortunately, I have thyroid cancer, but it seems to be in the very early stages. The test results confirmed that it is a 100% malignant tumor, and surgery is necessary to prevent it from spreading. I wanted to share this news with you, even though it may feel heavy."
He reassured fans, saying, "Many people are worried about my future, asking how I will continue with marathons and my family. The good news is that surgery can lead to recovery. I have already decided to proceed with the surgery and have scheduled it at a hospital. We are coordinating the best date considering both our schedules."
Jin also mentioned his ongoing participation in the show 'Divorce Counseling Camp,' emphasizing that he will manage his recovery to continue his role. He expressed gratitude towards his friend, Seojang-hoon, who has been supportive during this time.
Reflecting on his life experiences, Jin stated, "Throughout my 44 years, I have faced many challenges, but falling apart serves no purpose. I want to stress that thyroid cancer should not be taken lightly. I initially hesitated to get a health check-up, but Park Si-eun insisted, saying she would pack my bags if I didn't go. I finally went for my first health check-up in 44 years, coinciding with our 10th wedding anniversary."
Park Si-eun added, "I encouraged him to get checked for our anniversary, and it turned out to be a great decision. We need to take care of our health."
Jin emphasized the importance of exercise, stating, "I believe that my fitness helped me endure this diagnosis. I encourage everyone to prioritize their health and stay active." He concluded by expressing optimism about his surgery and recovery, hoping to return to his activities soon.
On May 7, Jin Tae-hyun announced his diagnosis on social media, prompting an outpouring of support from fans, especially as he and Park Si-eun have previously faced challenges, including a miscarriage.
