Ji Seok-jin Discusses 'Gradual Divorce' Concept on SBS Show

On the May 26 episode of SBS's 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny', Ji Seok-jin appeared as a special MC and shared his thoughts on the concept of 'gradual divorce' (졸혼). With 27 years of marriage under his belt, he humorously recalled a past statement he made about considering a gradual divorce at the age of 60, saying, "I don't even remember it. I must have said it in an interview over a decade ago."
Ji Seok-jin expressed that he finds the idea of gradual divorce to be a positive alternative to divorce itself, stating, "Isn't it better than getting divorced?" He also noted that every couple faces challenges, and he considers himself to be someone who has successfully navigated through crises in his marriage.
In a light-hearted moment, he remarked, "It's easier to write a memorandum than a reflection paper. A reflection paper requires thought, while a memorandum can just be written down as it's dictated," which elicited laughter from the audience.
Meanwhile, the episode also featured the couple Kim Mi-ryeong and Lee Tae-ho, who embarked on their first overseas trip to Taiwan. Kim Mi-ryeong expressed her fear of flying, saying, "Having worked underground for so long, seeing people seated on the plane makes me feel a bit suffocated." Her husband, Lee Tae-ho, comforted her by holding her hand.
As they enjoyed their in-flight meal, the couple showcased their affection by feeding each other. Kim Mi-ryeong remarked, "It feels a bit empty just sitting here. When was the last time we ate together in the sky?" expressing her happiness. Lee Tae-ho added, "I usually just eat plain noodles, but this is so delicious. Eating leisurely is such a treat!"
Upon arriving at Taipei Airport, the couple transferred to Taipei Main Station, heading towards Hualien. They checked their route using a guidebook prepared by their son. After safely reaching Taipei Station, they decided to grab a snack before their train. However, when Lee Tae-ho mentioned he needed to use the restroom, Kim Mi-ryeong jokingly urged him to hurry, saying, "When my husband goes, he disappears without a trace!" This comment brought laughter to those around them.
After 20 minutes, Lee Tae-ho returned from the restroom, prompting Kim Mi-ryeong to exclaim, "I was bored to death waiting for you! Now, don’t eat anything!" which caused more laughter among the group.
