Ji Chang-wook and Do Kyung-soo Shine at Disney Showcase with 'Sculpture City'

Actors Ji Chang-wook (지창욱) and Do Kyung-soo (도경수) captivated audiences at the Disney Showcase held in Singapore, where their new series 'Sculpture City' (조각도시) was unveiled.

On November 21, 2024, the Walt Disney Company hosted the 'Disney Content Showcase - APAC 2024' at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The event highlighted various content from the Asia-Pacific region, including announcements from Disney+ Korea and Disney+ Japan.

The showcase primarily focused on Korean content, featuring a range of original series such as 'Lighting Store' (조명가게), 'Hyper Knife' (하이퍼 나이프), 'Trigger' (트리거), 'Knock Off' (넉오프), 'Nine Puzzle' (나인 퍼즐), 'Fine Chon-tig' (파인 촌뜨기들), 'Low Life' (로우 라이프), 'Turbulence' (탁류), 'Polaris' (북극성), 'Sculpture City' (조각도시), and 'Made in Korea' (메이드 인 코리아). Among these, two series made their debut at the event.

The first was 'Turbulence' (탁류), an action-packed drama set in the Joseon era, depicting the transformation of a once-clear river into a lawless zone. The cast includes Jung Cheon (정천) played by Park Seo-ham (박서함), wise and just Choi Eun (최은) portrayed by Shin Ye-eun (신예은), and local thug Jung Si-yul (정시율). Directed by Choo Chang-min (추창민) and written by Cheon Sung-il (천성일), known for 'All of Us Are Dead' (지금 우리 학교는).

The second series, 'Sculpture City' (조각도시), is an action drama that follows Tae-jung (태정), who is wrongfully imprisoned for a horrific crime. He discovers that Johan (요한), played by Do Kyung-soo, is responsible for ruining his life, leading him to seek revenge. The series is penned by Oh Sang-ho (오상호), with Ji Chang-wook portraying Tae-jung, and Lee Kwang-soo (이광수) as Baek Do-kyung (백도경). Jo Yoon-seo (조윤수) also stars as No Eun-bi (노은비).

During the event, Ji Chang-wook expressed his excitement about being part of the new Disney+ original series, stating, "I am thrilled to be in 'Sculpture City,' my third Disney+ original. I hope for your support and interest." Do Kyung-soo added, "I am excited to be part of my first Disney+ original series. I believe it will be an immersive and entertaining experience, and I appreciate your support and interest."

The Disney Showcase, which took place over two days starting November 20, 2024, allowed attendees to preview upcoming projects from the Walt Disney Company. Approximately 500 journalists, influencers, and Disney partners from 12 Asia-Pacific countries, including Korea, Singapore, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia, were present at the event.
