J-Hope Kicks Off North American Tour with Spectacular Concert in Brooklyn
J-Hope (제이홉) of BTS (방탄소년단) has officially launched his North American tour, receiving widespread acclaim from international media for his electrifying performance. The solo concert, titled 'j-hope Tour 'HOPE ON THE STAGE' in BROOKLYN' (이하 'HOPE ON THE STAGE'), took place at the Barclays Center in the United States on March 14-15 (KST) and was a complete sell-out. Fans, known as ARMY (아미), gathered in droves around the venue, and J-Hope delivered an explosive show that met their high expectations.
The American music publication Consequence of Sound highlighted in their review that one of the remarkable aspects of J-Hope's performance was how effortless he appeared despite the immense preparation that likely went into it. They noted, "From the intense opening stage under a vibrant red curtain to the over 20 songs performed, J-Hope showcased intricate choreography and immersive staging with ease. As the tour name 'HOPE ON THE STAGE' suggests, he has returned to where he belongs."
The publication further praised J-Hope's confident performances, stating, "As the choreographer for BTS, he is detail-oriented and dedicated. Drawing from his diverse street dance experience, he has crafted a smooth and captivating style that blends with K-pop's intricate performance techniques. It's hard to imagine J-Hope not being on stage."
Billboard also spotlighted seven standout moments from the concert, including J-Hope's stage direction, street dance, and the debut of his new single. They remarked, "J-Hope showcased his full range, performing tracks from his early mixtapes, SoundCloud releases, BTS hits that made it to the Billboard Hot 100, and his new solo single. He fully established his own domain on stage, radiating qualities like hope, optimism, and passion."
Stylecaster described the tour as marking a new era for J-Hope, emphasizing his versatility as an artist and his already solid solo career. They stated, "He generously displayed his roots and immense talent, treating the stage like his personal playground."
This is not the first time J-Hope's solo concert has received international praise. His previous concert, 'HOPE ON THE STAGE' held in Seoul from February 28 to March 2 at the KSPO DOME, earned a perfect five-star rating from the British music magazine NME.
J-Hope will continue his North American tour with performances at the Allstate Arena in Chicago on March 18-19. He is also set to release his new song 'MONA LISA' on March 21 at 1 PM, and will make history by performing solo at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on April 5 and 7, becoming the first Korean solo artist to do so.
