Jeon So-min and Lee Joo-bin Share Their Experiences of Working Part-Time Amid Industry Challenges

Actress Jeon So-min recently opened up about her experience working part-time at a café after leaving the popular variety show Running Man (런닝맨). Jeon departed from the show in November 2023 after more than six years, where she showcased her versatility alongside fellow cast member Yang Se-chan. Her exit left a significant void for fans and the show's dynamic.

After her departure, Jeon focused on her acting career but faced some challenges. In a recent appearance on Ji Suk-jin's channel, she shared, "After leaving Running Man, I filmed a movie and two short dramas within three to four months. I also worked on 'Today, I Apologize.'" Despite her busy schedule, she expressed her worries about the uncertain future in the entertainment industry, stating, "Our work is unpredictable, and I had a lot of concerns. At that time, I also moved houses, which added to my stress. I thought, 'How can I survive in this tough industry after graduating from Running Man?' So, I took a part-time job at a café owned by an acquaintance."

Jeon revealed that she worked at a café located in a broadcasting station, where many industry professionals frequented. She humorously noted, "They all looked for cameras when they saw me. The café's policy was to not wear hats or masks to boost sales, but I still received the same hourly wage. They didn’t provide meal allowances, but they did feed me!" She reflected on the experience fondly, saying, "It was fun and felt like I was recharging my energy from the days when I dreamed of being an actress."

In a similar vein, actress Lee Joo-bin's story has also resurfaced. In a past appearance on a YouTube channel, she shared her own experiences of working part-time during the industry's downturn. Lee mentioned, "I wanted to do something, so I worked at a shop where I would inform clients when someone arrived, even though I was already somewhat known. At that time, there were no acting jobs available. I earned about 10,000 won per hour, and after a morning shift, I could make around 50,000 to 60,000 won."

Lee also reminisced about her time working at a café in Rodeo, emphasizing the importance of staying active during tough times. She stated, "I realized that if you just sit still, nothing happens. I felt the need to keep moving forward." The editor noted that while some may attribute her success to luck, it is her hard work that has led to her roles in projects like 'Queen of Tears' and 'Crime City 4.'
