Jeon Mi-do Shares Behind-the-Scenes of Joining Hospital Playlist

Actress Jeon Mi-do recently opened up about her experience joining the cast of tvN's Hospital Playlist (슬기로운 의사생활) in a video on the YouTube channel '요정재형'. She revealed that the casting director was a senior from her university, a fact she was unaware of until she received a call. Jeon recalled, "I wasn't in regular contact with him, so I was surprised to hear from him. He mentioned that I would need to audition, and at that point, I didn't have high expectations."

She further explained that she had previously auditioned for a significant role in the drama Mother (마더) but did not succeed. This led her to believe that she would have to start from scratch in the industry, despite her stage experience. When she was offered the audition for Hospital Playlist, she thought it would be great to land even a minor role, such as a patient's family member.

As she progressed through the audition process, she realized she was being considered for a major role. Jeon noted, "They didn't provide the script in advance. I was told to perform when I was ready, and it was for the first scene of Season 1. During my second audition, I had a scene with Ik-jun (played by Jo Jung-seok), and they kept giving me scenes to perform."

Interestingly, she mentioned that the director paused the audition for an hour after seeing her, contemplating whether she was the right fit for the character Chae Song-hwa. Jeon Mi-do also shared that the four male leads were already well-known actors, which made the casting team deliberate on whether to cast her as Chae Song-hwa or another character, Gyeo-ul. Jo Jung-seok had seen her performance and recommended her to the production team, which ultimately helped her secure the role. Jeon expressed gratitude for the teamwork that led to her joining the series.
