Jeon Hyun-moo Wins Third MBC Entertainment Award

On January 28, 2025, the '2025 MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards' (MBC 연예대상) was broadcast live, hosted by broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo, actor Lee Jang-woo, and Baby V.O.X member and actress Yoon Eun-hye. Jeon Hyun-moo took home the prestigious Grand Prize, marking his third win at MBC over the past eight years. Last year's winner, Giann84, humorously dressed as 'Mureupbak Dosa' to announce the award, which brought laughter as Jeon commented, 'This is my first time receiving a snotty award. It feels great to have an award that carries Giann84's essence.'

Expressing disbelief, Jeon shared, 'I still can't believe it. I was just a kid studying while watching my role models like Yoo Jae-suk and Kim Gook-jin. I cried a lot during my last award acceptance. I have no hobbies or special skills, and the only thing I did was watch entertainment shows. I wanted to bring joy to lonely people who only study inside a box. I have never forgotten that initial intention, and no matter how tough it gets, I always want to make someone happy. I see this award as a reward for that.'

He also reflected on the mixed emotions surrounding the 'Best Entertainment Program' award won by 'I Live Alone' (나 혼자 산다) and expressed hopes for his co-host Lee Jang-woo to soon share good news about marriage. Jeon mentioned, 'I want to live happily while doing 'I Live Alone,' but seeing Jang-woo makes me want to get married quickly. He often boasts about his girlfriend, and I think he’s a great friend.'

Jeon Hyun-moo expressed his gratitude towards 'My Little Old Boy' (전지적 참견 시점) and acknowledged the contributions of his co-hosts, stating, 'I feel a bit guilty about 'My Little Old Boy' because I feel like I'm just going along with it. This year, I will work hard on 'My Little Old Boy.'

He also shared his thoughts on the current entertainment landscape, saying, 'I often wonder what kind of laughter I should provide. Nowadays, people enjoy more stimulating content, and I find myself watching short videos on my smartphone instead of TV. But I believe TV shows are like vitamins, providing a healthy dose of laughter.'

In a heartfelt moment, he thanked his parents, saying, 'I want to express my gratitude to my parents for the first time. Your lives have always been about watching my shows, and I sincerely love you both. In entertainment, I may have received an award, but as a child, I feel like I’ve been a failure.'

Concluding his speech, he expressed appreciation for Yoo Jae-suk and shared his hopes for the upcoming year, wishing for more laughter and joy for viewers. 'We may be lacking in many ways, but I promise to keep the promise I made to my younger self to always bring joy to everyone. Happy New Year to all our viewers! Thank you!'
