Jeon Hyun-moo Surprises Hong Joo-yeon with a Special Gift on KBS2 Show

On January 19, during the KBS2 program 'Boss's Ears Are Donkeys' (사장님 귀는 당나귀 귀), broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo heated up the studio with a special gift for announcer Hong Joo-yeon. The episode continued the story of 'North Korean Boss' Lee Soon-sil, who was selling new dumplings, and featured the return of announcer Eom Ji-in.

Lee Soon-sil prepared a cooking show to sell out her new dumplings, and after successfully selling them, she celebrated with her juniors. Na Min-hee reminisced about her in-laws after defecting from North Korea, saying, "I wish I had in-laws too. My husband is from Pyongyang, and when it comes to holidays, I have nowhere to go." Lee Soon-sil warmly invited her, saying, "Now, everyone come to my house."

Na Min-hee also shared her experience of defecting in just 10 hours, having been selected as a foreign currency-earning worker abroad. Lee Soon-sil expressed her sympathy, stating, "How much they must have suffered, those young ones. I took 10 years to come here, starting from 1997. They took 10 hours, and I took 10 years; the difference is huge."

Lee Soon-sil recounted her experiences in South Korea, mentioning that she hosted meetings for couples from the North and South, where around 300 people would gather, resulting in 20 to 30 couples forming at once. Kim Sook joked, "If it’s possible for North-South couples, then Hyun-moo is in!" Jeon Hyun-moo humorously replied, "There are already so many dating rumors about me. If I participate, there will be articles about North Korean women too," while Park Myung-soo added, "I heard there are articles saying you had a second child!" which elicited laughter.

During a discussion about ideal types, Kim So-yeon and Na Min-hee quickly chose Park Myung-soo over Jeon Hyun-moo, with Kim So-yeon stating, "I don’t like too intense a look," and Na Min-hee suggesting, "I think Jeon Hyun-moo would be cold to women." Jeon Hyun-moo defended himself, saying, "I’m warm to my woman."

The studio welcomed Eom Ji-in, who shared her recent award news. "I received an award from the Announcer Association, not just KBS. I won two awards in the entertainment category this year!" she exclaimed.

Kim Sook then revealed a tip-off about Jeon Hyun-moo's recent comments regarding the show's outfits, questioning his sudden concern. Jeon Hyun-moo explained, "Isn’t this KBS's representative program?" Kim Sook pressed for the real reason, leading to the unveiling of a video.

The video showed Eom Ji-in presenting a cake to Hong Joo-yeon on Christmas Eve, stating, "Hyun-moo sunbae (senior) sent this for you." Eom Ji-in recounted how she received a call from the production team while at home, saying that Jeon Hyun-moo had left a cake for Hong Joo-yeon, who was on duty that day. Park Myung-soo jokingly asked how he knew about it.

Jeon Hyun-moo cheekily suggested, "Maybe Joo-yeon told him?" while Eom Ji-in claimed she was unaware. Lee Soon-sil commented, "In North Korea, giving a cake or food to a woman signifies marriage. It’s just marriage." Jeon Hyun-moo countered, "This is the South," but Lee Soon-sil insisted, "The Korean people are the same North and South. This is marriage. Just live with it."

Jeon Hyun-moo also prepared a handwritten letter along with the cake, which surprised everyone. Park Myung-soo exclaimed, "Is this how you propose?" The letter read, "Working late on Christmas Eve? Enjoy this and make the atmosphere nice, like a celebration." Eom Ji-in was astonished, saying, "The great Jeon Hyun-moo wrote a handwritten letter!" Lee Soon-sil expressed her disappointment, saying, "We’ve been filming for a long time without even getting snacks," while Park Myung-soo joked about collecting wedding gifts in advance.

When asked by Kim Sook if he and Hong Joo-yeon had been meeting separately, Jeon Hyun-moo clarified, "No. I’ve also had to work on Christmas Eve. It’s so miserable and lonely. I was guarding the announcer's room, and not a single text came in. It reminded me of the past and felt pitiful." Hong Joo-yeon later sent a video message saying, "I will have a warm end of the year with this sweet cake," while Kim Sook humorously speculated about a ring on her finger.

In response to questions about his relationship with Hong Joo-yeon, Jeon Hyun-moo stated, "I keep texting her. I feel sorry because there are so many dating rumors. I ask if she’s stressed, but she says it doesn’t bother her at all."
