Jeon Hyun-moo Shares Winter Beach Update After Award Ceremony Cancellations

Jeon Hyun-moo, who was set to host the '2024 MBC Entertainment Awards' and was a strong contender for the grand prize, recently shared a surprising update after the ceremony was canceled due to a national tragedy. On December 29, he changed his social media profile picture to a chrysanthemum flower in memory of the victims of the recent aviation disaster, posting a heartfelt message that read, 'In memory of the victims of the Muan aviation accident.'

Originally, Jeon was expected to co-host the live broadcast of the awards show on the same day. However, the event was ultimately called off following a tragic plane crash that occurred during the landing of Jeju Air flight 7C2216, which was en route from Bangkok, Thailand to Muan Airport.

In addition to the MBC awards, the '2024 SBS Entertainment Awards,' which Jeon was also scheduled to host alongside Lee Hyun-yi and Jang Do-yeon, was also canceled. An SBS representative confirmed that the awards ceremony, originally set to air on December 31, would not take place due to the ongoing mourning period.

On December 31, Jeon Hyun-moo took to Instagram to share a glimpse of his life, posting a photo of himself gazing at the winter sea. He expressed his wishes for a prosperous 2025, stating, 'I hope the new year brings only good things for all of you.'

According to the Fire Department, the tragic incident occurred at 9:03 AM on December 29 when Jeju Air flight 7C2216 attempted to land at Muan Airport but crashed, colliding with the runway's outer wall and igniting a fire. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident, which is believed to have resulted from the landing gear failing to deploy during landing.

The flight carried a total of 181 individuals, including 6 crew members, 173 South Korean passengers, and 2 Thai passengers. After an extensive overnight search, authorities confirmed that only 2 crew members survived, while the remaining 179 individuals tragically lost their lives, marking this incident as one of the deadliest aviation disasters in South Korea's history.
