Jeon Hyun-moo Opens Up About the Challenges of Taking a Break

Jeon Hyun-moo, who hosts over 22 regular programs a year, candidly shared his thoughts on rest during the latest episode of MBN and Channel S's 'Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan 2', which aired on December 13. After an eight-month hiatus, Jeon Hyun-moo returned to Busan alongside YouTuber Kwak Tube, who guided him through various local eateries, including a special guest appearance by Chef Jung Ji-sun.

The episode kicked off with Jeon Hyun-moo humorously admitting, "I don’t know anything," as Kwak Tube took the lead. Kwak Tube reminisced about his past experiences working at a supermarket owned by a notable figure, where he spent a year, including two months as a parking attendant and eight months selling shoes. He also recalled a memorable bowl of kalguksu (handmade knife-cut noodles) he had at the age of twenty.

Kwak Tube had previously attempted to feature the restaurant on his personal channel four years ago but faced rejection. As they approached the restaurant, Jeon Hyun-moo introduced the waiting Chef Jung Ji-sun, prompting Kwak Tube to guess her age, suggesting she looked to be in her late twenties to early thirties. Jeon Hyun-moo playfully relayed this to Jung Ji-sun, who greeted Kwak Tube with a smile.

When Chef Jung expressed her anticipation for seafood, Kwak Tube jokingly mentioned that they had just eaten sashimi and Korean beef. Jeon Hyun-moo then revealed they would be having kalguksu, which elicited a humorous reaction from Jung Ji-sun, who feigned disappointment.

Kwak Tube also introduced a pig's trotters restaurant and a value-for-money omakase spot. While at the omakase restaurant, Kwak Tube noted that he recognized Jeon Hyun-moo's voice from a new program he had seen recently. Jeon Hyun-moo responded, "I’ll be taking a break for three days after today until the end of November, and I plan to travel during that time," to which Kwak Tube quipped, "If you travel during your break, you’re not really resting."

Jeon Hyun-moo reflected on his difficulty in enjoying his days off, stating, "I feel it's a waste to stay home on my days off. Even though I’m tired, I don’t want to just come home and watch TV like many fathers do. I want to spend my time actively, even if it means pushing myself."

He further admitted, "Resting isn’t enjoyable for me. I often don’t know what to do, and perhaps I don’t even know how to rest properly." Kwak Tube empathized, sharing that he also feels uneasy during his downtime, often thinking about how he could have been more entertaining on the shows he appears in.

Jeon Hyun-moo concluded, "You’re not working just for the money, right? Money isn’t the reason for work. Even if it’s tough, feeling alive is what brings me happiness."
