Jeon Hyun-moo Opens Up About His Romance with 20-Year-Younger Announcer Hong Joo-yeon
On the latest episode of 요정재형 (Yeojeongjaehyeong), Jeon Hyun-moo shared his feelings regarding his budding romance with KBS announcer Hong Joo-yeon, who is 20 years his junior. During the broadcast on January 7, he humorously mentioned, "I've been so busy lately, but I came when called," adding that he hadn't been home for four days. Co-host Jung Jae-hyung was surprised and asked where he was sleeping, to which Jeon replied that he had been camping in a camper van and had even filmed a teaser for the 'Entertainment Awards' and recorded for 'I Live Alone' (나 혼자 산다) after returning to Seoul.
Jung teased Jeon about his nice watch, joking that he must be accumulating wealth despite not going home. Reflecting on his achievements in 2024, Jeon stated that his best work was as a caster. Jung praised him for creating a successful broadcast for the weightlifting event, expressing pride in how his fame could help others.
The conversation took a turn when Jung noted Jeon's lack of embarrassment regarding exposure on the variety show 'Boss's Ears' (사장님 귀는 당나귀 귀), where Jeon had asked to have his meetings with new announcers publicized. Jung suggested that Jeon seemed to be engaging in noise marketing to promote the show, which Jeon confirmed, stating that he felt brave enough to disregard public perceptions.
This discussion comes in light of recent dating rumors between Jeon and Hong Joo-yeon. Jeon mentioned, "These days, every article I see makes it seem like I'm newlywed. I hope my real life can also have a touch of pink love," referring to his relationship with the younger announcer. The rumors have gained traction, with even false news about him welcoming a child circulating.
In response to the speculation, Jeon remarked, "I've been through so much that it doesn't matter if people criticize me for dating another female announcer. It's not significant; issues come and go, and I've experienced enough to know that one issue will eventually overshadow another." He expressed a desire for Hong Joo-yeon to gain more recognition through the buzz surrounding their relationship.
Jung then pointed out that main MCs usually avoid creating unnecessary controversies, to which Jeon humorously replied, "I tend to stir things up!" Jung acknowledged that Jeon has a history of supporting younger colleagues, regardless of their profession, and encouraged him for his approach.
