Jennie of BLACKPINK Opens Up About Her Comeback and New Album on 'Hyeol's Club'

In a recent episode of 'Hyeol's Club', BLACKPINK member Jennie (제니) shared insights about her upcoming music and her return to the spotlight. The episode, titled 'Jennie's Secrets Revealed on Hyeol's Club', aired on January 31, 2025, on the show's YouTube channel.

The production team introduced Jennie as a world star, encouraging her to 'protect our Jennie while she works'. Upon seeing Hyeori, Jennie exclaimed, 'Your face is so small!', to which Hyeori humorously replied, 'You're even smaller!'. Hyeori greeted viewers in multiple languages, tailored for the global star.

Jennie announced her comeback, revealing that the teaser for her new song 'Rudy' has been released, and her first solo album 'Ruby' (루비) is set to drop on March 7. She explained, 'There are two versions of the album; the physical version features all 15 tracks sung by me, while the digital version includes collaborations with other artists. You really need to listen to it because I've poured so much effort into it, exploring various genres.'

When asked if she would consider being an idol in her next life, Jennie playfully responded, 'I want to live well and experience different jobs, but I’ll decide after finishing this life. I feel like I haven’t lived enough yet.' Now in her ninth year as a singer since debuting at 20 in 2016, she noted, 'I’ll be turning 30 in a year,' which surprised Hyeori.

Discussing the differences between group and solo activities, Jennie stated, 'The meaning of responsibility changes. When filming alone, it’s always my turn. It’s not about leading each other; it’s about handling things on my own. It’s a stage of growth that we need to tackle as a group of four.'

They also talked about vacations, with Jennie expressing her hope to take a break next year. Hyeori was surprised, saying, 'But it’s January now!' Jennie clarified, 'I might seem like a workaholic, but I want to work hard now so I can rest well later.' When asked how she relaxes on her days off, Jennie admitted, 'Believe it or not, I don’t have a single day without a schedule right now,' explaining that she has started her own company and is preparing for her album.

Finally, when asked for a TMI (too much information), Jennie stood up to reveal a bruise on her leg, saying, 'The stockings are not for style but to cover the bruise I got while dancing. There are many moves that involve the knees, but it doesn’t hurt.' She added, 'I wanted to wear a skirt, but I thought it would be better to cover it up, so I wore the stockings to hide the bruise.'
