Jennie Makes History as First K-Pop Solo Artist to Win at Billboard's Women in Music

Global artist Jennie (제니) has made history by becoming the first K-Pop solo artist to receive an award at the Billboard Women in Music ceremony. On March 29, 2025, local time, she attended the event held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, where she was honored with the Global Force Award.
In her acceptance speech, Jennie expressed her gratitude to her fans, stating, "It is truly an honor and a source of pride to receive the Global Force Award in a place filled with beautiful women who inspire many. I draw inspiration from women all around the world and aspire to be someone who can positively influence others in the future."
Billboard's Women in Music recognizes the top female artists, creators, producers, and executives who have made significant impacts in the music industry over the past year. Previously, Billboard described Jennie as a unique artist whose explosive global influence has been acknowledged since she began her solo career.
Jennie's recent debut solo album, Ruby (루비), has shattered records and created a global sensation. The album made its mark on the Billboard 200 chart, remaining on the list for two consecutive weeks, while the title track, like JENNIE (라이크 제니), reached the Top 10 on both the Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) and Global 200 charts for two weeks.
Additionally, Ruby debuted at number three on the UK Official Albums Chart Top 100 (as of March 14), setting a record for the highest position achieved by a K-Pop female solo artist and becoming the first K-Pop artist to appear on this chart for three consecutive weeks in 2025.
Jennie is set to perform solo at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 13 and 20, marking her participation in one of the largest music festivals in the United States.
