Japanese Actress Miho Nakayama Found Dead at 54

Miho Nakayama, the beloved star of the Japanese film 'Love Letter' (러브레터), has passed away at the age of 54. On December 6, 2024, Japanese media outlets, including NHK, reported that Nakayama was discovered deceased in her Tokyo home. A representative from her agency, unable to reach her, visited her residence and found her in the bathtub, prompting a call to the police. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

Nakayama left a lasting impression on audiences worldwide with her iconic line, "Ogenki desu ka?" from the 1995 film 'Love Letter.' She was particularly cherished by Korean fans, and during her attendance at the 2017 Busan International Film Festival, she expressed her gratitude, stating, "Even after 22 years, audiences still shout 'Ogenki desu ka?' when they see me. I am truly thankful and happy."

In addition to 'Love Letter,' Nakayama starred in numerous other notable works, including 'The Noble Detective' (귀족탐정), 'Twilight Samurai' (황혼유성군), 'Women of Tokyo 23' (도쿄 23구의 여자), 'Sayonara Itsuka' (사요나라 이츠카), 'Butterfly Sleep' (나비잠), and 'Last Letter' (라스트 레터), solidifying her status as a leading actress in Japan.
