Japan to Release New Anime Similar to 'K-Pop Demon Hunters'

The popularity of the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' continues to rise, prompting Japan to introduce a similar project. On July 28, U.S. kids' media outlet Kidscreen reported on a new anime titled 'SI-VIS: The Sound of Heroes,' produced by Sony Music and Aniplex. This upcoming series features real J-Pop artists voicing characters in a mixed-gender idol group that battles evil using music as their weapon, echoing the premise of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters.' While 'SI-VIS' follows a Japanese idol group that performs nationwide and draws energy from fan support to fight villains, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' centers on a K-Pop idol group that combats evil spirits. The full cast of 'SI-VIS' will be revealed before its airing on Fuji TV in October. This project is seen as a response to the success of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' which has set records for viewership among Netflix original animated films and continues to gain popularity even six weeks after its release. The film's soundtrack has also made waves, with the girl group HuntRix's theme song 'Golden' reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100, alongside eight other tracks from the OST entering the chart.
