January 28: A Day of Returns and Revelations in Korean Entertainment

On January 28, significant events unfolded in the Korean entertainment scene. After announcing a hiatus due to health issues, Ji Suk-jin (지석진) made his return to the show Running Man (런닝맨) nearly a month later. Meanwhile, the couple Jin Tae-hyun (진태현) and Park Si-eun (박시은) shared their emotional journey following a miscarriage as they reappeared on the show Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 (동상이몽2-너는 내 운명).
Jin Tae-hyun and Park Si-eun, who married in 2015, had previously adopted a daughter and were overjoyed to announce their pregnancy in 2022. Tragically, they faced the heartbreak of a stillbirth just weeks before the due date. On their return to Same Bed, Different Dreams 2, Jin expressed his desire to share hope and comfort with others who have experienced similar losses, stating, "We had many worries, but we wanted to share hope and comfort with those who have lost someone."
Recently, the couple announced the adoption of two daughters, receiving widespread support from fans.
In another notable event, Ji Suk-jin returned to Running Man on January 28, 2024, after taking a break for health reasons. He had previously announced his hiatus on December 18, 2023, stating that he needed time to recover following a health check-up. Although he missed the 2023 SBS Entertainment Awards, where he won a Producer Award, he reassured fans through a phone call with Yoo Jae-suk (유재석) that he would be back soon.
The episode of Running Man that marked his return was themed around health checks, and to celebrate his comeback, Song Ji-hyo (송지효) prepared a special welcome meal for him.
On January 28, 2022, Park Yoo-hwan (박유환), brother of Park Yoo-chun (박유천), was sent to the prosecution for violating drug laws. He was accused of smoking marijuana with two associates in a restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand, in December 2020. All parties involved admitted to the charges during police investigations.
Additionally, on the same day in 2022, the girl group APRIL (에이프릴) announced their disbandment following a bullying controversy involving former member Lee Hyun-joo (이현주). The group, which debuted in 2015, faced backlash after allegations surfaced that they had bullied Lee. The controversy led to significant fallout, including the withdrawal of member Na Eun (나은) from a drama and the cancellation of her advertising contracts. Despite legal actions taken by APRIL against those who made the allegations, the bullying claims persisted, and the members are now pursuing individual careers.
