Jang Pil-soon Releases New Single 'Melody of Love'

Singer-songwriter Jang Pil-soon has made her long-awaited return with a new single titled '사랑의 멜로디' (Melody of Love), released on June 4 at noon on various online music platforms. This marks her first new song in two and a half years since her EP '고마워' (Thank You) was released in December 2022. 'Melody of Love' is a classic ballad that showcases the beauty of love, written by her longtime musical collaborator Lee Kyu-ho, who composed the song specifically for Jang Pil-soon and Jo Dong-ik.

Jo Dong-ik, who is not only a musician but also a significant part of Jang Pil-soon's life, took on the arrangement for this track. Lee Kyu-ho, inspired by the love shared between Jang Pil-soon and Jo Dong-ik, contributed to the lyrics, composition, and piano performance.

Lee Kyu-ho is a singer-songwriter known for his participation in the Yoo Jae-ha Music Contest and was a member of the music community Hana Music, led by the legendary Korean folk musician Jo Dong-jin in the 1990s. He has released two solo albums and has worked with numerous artists, including Lee Seung-hwan and Yoon Jong-shin.

'사랑의 멜로디' (Melody of Love) tells a universal love story through its lyrics, incorporating words like 'melody,' 'pianist,' and 'high treble,' along with lines such as 'I will sing a love ballad' and 'You are the bassist in my life.' Jang Pil-soon first performed this song during the '학전 Again' concert, held as the Hakjeon Theater closed in 2024, describing it as a 'blatantly sung love song' that captures the essence of genuine love and the everyday moments it encompasses.

The arrangement features a simple piano line with minimal sound effects, complementing the straightforward and honest lyrics. A music video showcasing the natural beauty of Jeju Island, where Jang Pil-soon and Jo Dong-ik reside, is set to be released soon.
