IZNA Makes Bold Debut: Can They Surpass BLACKPINK?

The girl group IZNA has officially announced their debut with confidence. On November 25, a showcase was held at YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, where the members expressed their excitement and aspirations.
Koko shared, "It still feels surreal to be debuting after dreaming about it for so long. We will show our wonderful selves to those who have waited for us." Mai added, "I have worked hard to show a more developed and grown version of myself compared to my time on 'I-LAND 2.'" Yusarang mentioned, "I am quite nervous, but I believe you will feel our diverse charms through our confident title track and lovely b-side songs."
Bong Jimin expressed gratitude to the fans for allowing them to stand on such a dream-like stage, while Yoon Jiyoon encouraged fans to look forward to their various appearances. Choi Jeong-eun admitted to feeling a bit nervous but was eager to showcase their performance. Jeong Sebi reflected on the dream of standing on stage with her fellow members who share the same goal, emphasizing the chemistry they have prepared to display.
IZNA is a seven-member girl group formed through Mnet's 'I-LAND 2,' consisting of Koko, Mai, Yusarang, Bong Jimin, Yoon Jiyoon, Choi Jeong-eun, and Jeong Sebi. They made their official debut stage at the 2024 MAMA Awards on November 22.
Mai noted, "I was surprised that five months have passed since the show ended. We have worked hard to show our growth, and the mindset of the members has changed as well." Jeong Sebi expressed her honor in performing at the MAMA Awards, stating, "Hearing the cheers from our fans was overwhelming. It felt like waking up from a dream, and I feel a great sense of responsibility. We are working hard to present a fantastic stage. Our unique strength lies in the different charms of each member coming together to create synergy."
Yoon Jiyoon mentioned, "Since we debuted through 'I-LAND 2,' we are striving to show a different side of ourselves than what was seen on the show. We are pushing our limits together." Choi Jeong-eun revealed that she has been closely monitoring BLACKPINK, aiming to emulate their perfect dance and vocal performances.
Their debut album 'N/A' symbolizes the limitless potential of young girls who challenge their fears and push beyond their limits. The album features contributions from top domestic producers, including Teddy from The Black Label, who has worked with iconic groups like BIGBANG, 2NE1, and BLACKPINK.
Yoon Jiyoon expressed gratitude for Teddy's guidance, stating, "He emphasized that a good piece of work comes from mutual understanding. He listened to our musical aspirations and tried to accommodate them as much as possible." Yusarang added, "It was an honor to work with a producer whose work inspired my dreams. He has always welcomed us warmly and helped us create an album filled with our unique colors."
Bong Jimin noted that Teddy helped blend each member's charm into the music, expressing a desire for the group to explore new facets of themselves while showcasing all seven members.
The title track 'IZNA' reflects the group's bold ambition to astonish the world, featuring a minimal beat and an addictive chorus. Bong Jimin shared her excitement, saying, "When I first heard 'IZNA,' I thought it was a great song that suited all seven of us perfectly, and I wanted to show it to our fans as soon as possible."
The album also includes easy-listening dance tracks like 'Time Bomb,' the mission song from 'I-LAND 2' titled 'I Will Always Love You,' as well as 'Drip' and 'Fake It' in IZNA's version.
IZNA will release 'N/A' at 6 PM today. Bong Jimin stated, "We believe we shine the brightest on stage. We want to be known as 'stage geniuses' and capture the attention of K-pop fans." Koko expressed her desire to introduce IZNA to many people and aim for a music show win. Mai hopes that when people think of K-pop girl groups, IZNA will be the first name that comes to mind.
Yusarang wishes for the album to be a gift for the fans who have waited for them, while Yoon Jiyoon aspires to become an irreplaceable iconic girl group. Choi Jeong-eun wants to perform on more stages, and Jeong Sebi dreams of achieving a Billboard No. 1.
